Three forms drawing

I found that todays project was very entertaining. I thought that it was really cool that it wasn't as hard to draw shadows as i thought it would be. Using only the materials we used was really a big help as well. Having limits to what you can use always tends to help an artist. Using both erasers was also very interesting because it made it look so much more real and 3D.

Extending our findings from The Pour Paintings.

From looking at my pour painting i noticed that i really like the color scheme. I was also pleased with the way my cat fish blended in with the piece of work. When i found out that we needed to make another piece of art with inspiration i immediately thought a flower. I chose to make a flower because flowers are what i find most fun to make and it would be fun to blend the same colors into it. Though i was adding the same colors that i did in my original painting, i wanted to bring something else to the new one. I decided since i liked the fish so much that i would have it curve into the petals. Now that i have started to paint my flower, i got some good ideas from my classmates about what i can do to make it improve. They helped me come up with some ideas like to fill in the background and cut it out. I think that helpful criticism is a good way to get new ideas.

Pour Paintings

When pouring the paint of the paper it was really exciting to see what shapes would come out of it. I the paint was thicker and had less water then it would run down the page and make more shapes. When i added more colors sometimes they would blend together and mix colors. If the paint sat in a puddle and dried then it would come out really dark and funky looking. I like the way it looked better when id let the paint form itself and not use the brush to spread it. When it dried I was really pleased with the way it came out. Instead of turing it in to one big thing i started to see little individual shapes like a catfish and underwater creatures.

Collaborative Drawings.

When i came back to my picture at the end i realized that it really opened up my eyes to see how i could finish it. When i started i had my idea all planned out and didn't really think of any other ideas, so when i returned their additions to it helped me think of an entirely different ending to my picture. When you have someone else add their ideas to your picture it helps you get an idea of what it looks like to other people that don't see it the way you do. I think this is a good project because it teaches you to work with other people and have a bigger imagination to work with. I know next time i paint im going to really push myself and see if there is anything else more i can add.

Talk and draw

For me i thought both experiences were pretty hard. I thought that it would be easier to actually say the name of the object when we were telling our partner to draw it but we weren't allowed. Even tough both experiences were hard i would say that directing our partner was harder. I say that that was harder because first of all you weren't allowed to name an object and you had to tell them exactly what colors and what shapes things were. If i were to do this experience again i would say that we would be able to name an object and see how much better it would turn out than not saying the object at all. I think this can help you with your drawing skills and become a better drawer.

Thinking about the artist.

I think that anyone can really be an artist if they want to be one. An artist can be someone from 4 to 94. To be an artist you have to have some creativity and add your own touch to things. To be a creative and productive artist you have to have a wide imagination and creativity. There is so many types of artist's and many types of art that one can create.

paint, blocks, play dough

When i first touched the materials i want sure which one to use first.I started with the finger paint and squirted it on my hands and made a hand print. When i first touched the play dough i mixed the colors and made a patterned snake out of the pattern. When i last had to play with the blocks i wasn't sure what to do with them but i ended  up just adding and adding on to make a really tall pyramid. At the end i ended up making different colors with the paints and swirled it around with my fingers making it look pretty. When i was doing these things i felt a little childish but it wasn't like i was a child again, but it was close. Everyone was being crazy and messy which was like i was 5 again but i still felt the age i am now.

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."

What  Pablo Picasso means by this statement is that when your a child your mind thinks so much differently when you are younger. I think that he is also saying that when you have nothing to worry about and dont care what anyone thinks its easier to make what you would like too. Children make such abstract art that a lot of people dont understand which makes it so interesting. No one knows how the child thinks until you see their very unique art and get a feel for what they are thinking. Your art changes as you start to care what people think.
